It’s A Vibe! Lavender Festival in Maryland

Fun

Summer is here and I plan to soak up every ounce of outside I can get!

So when I saw this event listed on Google I was so excited to check it out for 2 reasons:

1) I LOVE Lavender. Literally my favorite smell.

2) Did I mention I love lavender?

From Vogue India

Honestly, a field full of blooming lavender gave me Jacquemus Spring/Summer 2020 vibes and I’ve just always dreamed of what it would be like to frolic in a space like that. Happy to know there’s a little piece of that kind of French experience, right here in the DMV 🥹.

Now, there’s more than one spot to enjoy lavender festivals in Maryland, but we chose to check out the one at Starbright Farms. To be honest, I was late to grab tickets to the other lavender fields but Starbright Farms had more than enough room for us!

A couple of things I loved about this experience:

  • Definitely add this to your list of affordable summer events in Maryland because this thing was only a-ffort-a-ble! Only $15 (if you bought on their website). Especially for the experience you get in exchange, I think the price was worth it.

  • Man, do I love an event with easy parking and this event had it! There was enough room to park and it was simple and easy.

  • A host was right there on entry to check in your tickets. We didn’t have to go looking for her at all. She greated us with a smile and everyone involved in hosting the event was super kind and helpful.

  • It was family friendly but not tacky. There wasn’t like a million loud kids running or a bunch of grown folks thinking they own the place. Point is, it wasn’t chaotic. It was welcoming enough for all ages but cool enough for you to enjoy a couple glasses of wine/beer.

  • Yes, there were black people there!

  • They had great options of American staple foods (like fries and gourmet sandwiches) from their food trucks and some options even had a fun lavender twist to it.

Unfortunately, we missed out on the Lavender Ice Tea but we heard that it was bomb!

  • Professional photography was allowed (for a couple extra bucks!) if you wanted to get your influencer on or you could use your phone cameras for free.

  • The lavender shop owner was super informative and very helpful. My girl almost bought the whole store!

  • The music was palettable. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of country music, but what else would you expect on a farm? 😆 However, I did enjoy the band. They added such a nice tough to the entire ambience. Again, it wasn’t chaotic. It was pleasing. My friend and I could hold a conversation the entire 3 hours we were there.

  • If your a city girl like me who’s not really big on full blown country life but you can appreciate a little splash of it, this event is up your alley. It was definitely a vibe!

Things to be aware of:

  • Bugs and bees! Remember, this is a lavender field at peek season. There will be bees in the area of the lavender field and lots of them. Thankfully, they didn’t fly too much around where people were sitting. However, the bugs did 😭 (and I hate bugs). So make sure you put on bug spray and whatever else you think you’ll need.

  • Dogs are allowed to come! So if you’re not a dog person, that’s something you need to consider. You can always change to another sitting area on the field though if you like.

  • Picnic blankets are not provided so make sure you don’t forget yours at home. I even saw someone pitch up a camping tent so I guess you can do that option too lol!

  • You cannot bring your own food and drinks into the event. However, there were plenty of tasty food and drink options available.

  • Be prepared to spend! Cause honey, the lavender shop had so many great hand-made lavender products- literally everything from home, to skin care was there (even a lavender mosquito repellent!) You might leave with more than you came with 😄 and #supportsmallbusinesses

  • This event happens only during the lavender peak season. So make sure to check the dates of when you can enjoy this experience.

Overall, it was just a perfect and peaceful way to spend a Saturday afternoon with friends. And… I got to finally frolic in a lavender field so there’s that too. (Check!)
